Hello Again,
I have wanted to see The Soloist since I first saw the trailer at the Chinook Center Scotia bank Theatre in Calgary Alberta! The movie looked profoundly inspirational, and so I had to see it!
Later on that month when I was asking my web designer (also my movie buddy) what movie we were wanting to see that night he suggested The Soloist and I jumped at the chance!
I was disappointed in 2 things! One, as circumstances had it we had heard before we went that some people didnt like it . Two, that it was only being shown in 3 Theaters in the city. There are way more than 3 theaters in Calgary. Also very disappointing is that the most popular and my favorite theater was not one of the three playing it!
What was not disappointed was the movie! This movie is beautiful! So inspiring and very touching! The depiction of the homeless in LA was definitely real and very astonishing! Robert Downey Junior has a conversation with one of the homeless woman and I swear it was real! I swear she was an actual homeless woman from the streets that they just happen to capture magic with on film! That is how actual is was!
Robert Downey Junior played a journalist (Steve Lopez)at the LA times who was a divorced father of one and who’s live was full of “set backs”. He found a homeless man (Nathaniel Anthony Ayers Played by Jamie Fox) being consumed by a violin with missing strings. He thought Nathaniel would make an interesting story. He started to ask questions and found answers, his answers! He found passion and love in this man for his music that was unlike anything he has ever felt before.
The journey with these two men is beautiful! The story was very touching. What I felt I saw on the screen was real and full of impact!
I then realized why some people did not like it! Because, as sad as it is to say, there are a lot of people who are disconnected with themselves and with humanity! So much that to watch a movie that requires you connect to the emotions, the Characters, the story, the situations and to feel the abundance of truth, you first must be connected to yourself to allow it to do so!
This movie is a true story and I urge anyone with a love for classical music and who is able to connect, to watch this movie and be prepared to be moved! I know I was!
